The Rubinstein Chess Academy tournament held, recently at the Wernhil Park shopping complex, saw close to 40 players competing for top honours.
Coach and owner of the academy Israel Shilongo told New Era Sport the tournament was aimed at showcasing and testing players’ abilities.
He said the competition went according to their projections and was a success.
“The winners walked away with medals, participation certificates as well as goodie bags. These competitions are held every three months,” Shilongo said.
Sports minister Agnes Tjongarero and Japanese ambassador to Namibia Hideaki Harada were also in attendance.
