Taking MVA Fund services closer to the people

The Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund of Namibia continues efforts to take its services closer to the people, this time targeting Ohangwena, which is ranked third in road crashes.

“The fund noted with concern that Ohangwena region ranks third in the number of road crash-related fatalities while a high number of incomplete MVA Fund claims lacking the required documentation or simply incorrectly filled out, also arise from the region,” said fund spokesperson Hilaria Graig.

She said incomplete claim forms cause challenges for the fund to finalise the process within the prescribed period.

The ‘MVA Fund on Wheels’ team will visit and engage the communities of Ondobe, Okongo, Helao Nafidi, Ongha, Ongenga, and Eenhana.

Graig said the community outreach programme will among others, attend to claims registration and queries, educate the public on claims form completion, product knowledge, and stakeholder engagement while also intensifying road safety activities throughout the region.

The programme will allow the fund to bring road safety to the forefront in the region, where they will visit schools, conduct road safety interventions at bus and loading terminals, and host community meetings with the general public.

While the fund has eight strategically located service centres throughout the country, Graig said the MVA Fund on Wheels programme allows them to reach remote communities, especially where it has no service centres.

Previously, the MVA Fund on Wheels programme visited Erongo, Khomas and Omaheke regions, with plans to reach all 14 regions in the country.
