Youthful Neliwa documents GBV cries

Due to the prevalence of gender-based violence in the country of which women and children are the most victims, Grace Ndamona Neliwa has decided to speak up in a form of scripting a fiction book.

The book titled ‘Haunted by the Rose’ talks about the social ills that are affecting society.
The 21-year-old Neliwa says she decided to publish a book in an effort to tackle GBV.

According to her, GBV is horrific, hence her taste of crafting something in a horror form that speaks to the heart as many can relate.
In this book, Neliwa speaks about Patricia who was abused, raped and impregnated by her uncle Thomas, who later denied and rejected her pregnancy.

“Due to anxiety and depression, Patricia committed suicide and returned for her revenge against the wicked but this time as The Rose and she hopes for change,” narrated Neliwa.

“I am the voice of the voiceless, as many are unable to speak against violent acts upon them. Therefore, this book is educative to children, men and women,” she added.

Neliwa is due to graduate with a bachelor degree in education at the University of Namibia. Currently, Neliwa is a language teacher at King Kauluma Combined School in Oshikoto region.
She is a role model and a leader as she served as a junior councillor for the Oshakati Town Council for a period of four years. –osimasiku@nepc.com.na
