Players hungry for top leagues – Veseevete

The assistant coach of the Okamatapati Combined School (CS), Tjiunatjo Veseevete says the team’s impressive form in the Clemence Rukatero Vihajo Okamatapati Soccer League emanates from the players’ commitment.

Okamatapati CS collected maximum points last weekend after crushing Chief Hei United 9-0 on Friday and Amakhosi Boys 4-2 on Sunday.

The fourth division team is currently sitting comfortably on top of the league with 19 points from eight matches.

The popular league has nine teams and the league-winners get promoted to the third division.

Veseevete said their first position in the league did not come by surprise, but because of players’ commitment and hunger to play in bigger leagues.

“These players have ambition and desire to play at a high level.

They train every day on their own and that is something exceptional about these young players,” the assistant coach said.

Veseevete added that the players are hungry for success, they are self-motivated and don’t rely on close supervision for them to train.

“These have made the work of the coaching staff very easy, and it is very rare to find such commitment from young players.

We are giving them the freedom to use the training facilities even after hours and that has added to the tremendous display on the field of play,” he said.

Veseevete further said despite the players’ commitment, the high level of discipline among them prevails daily.

“These young stars are highly disciplined, and I hope they will keep that in their endeavours. The top position in the log means a lot to us and we hope to maintain it to the end of the season,” he said.

Among the league fixtures played over the weekend, Etapati Young Stars lost 3-4 to Classic Eleven, while Forester Jazongune overcame Omurari ua-Coblenz 1-0 on Saturday.

Amakhosi Boys played a goalless draw with Scorpions FC, whereas Classic Eleven subdued Omurari ua-Coblenz 3-2 in the last game on Saturday.

On Sunday, Chief Hei suffered another heavy 7-1 defeat at the hands of Omurari ua-Coblenz in a one-sided affair.

This was followed by the 6-0 humiliation of Scorpions FC by on-fire Forester Jazongune.

Omurari ua-Coblenz played more games this past weekend due to its participation in the schools tournament and stunned Ekuija Monjama 3-2 in the final of the league.

Chief Hei United anchor the log without a win from eight games and only one draw.
