Bodies of woman, baby discovered… police suspect murder

The bodies of a 32-year-old woman and her seven-month-old baby girl were discovered by a cattle herder some three kilometres from Otjiwarongo along the B1 road towards Okahandja on Tuesday morning.
According to an incident report by Otjozondjupa police spokesperson Inspector Maureen Mbeha, the mother and daughter are suspected to have been murdered.

The body of the woman, who was identified as Clodin Mutsvairo, a Zimbabwean national, was found in a pool of blood with a visible serious wound on her head.

“The baby is suspected to have been hit on the head as well,” the report said.
According to the report, Mutsvairo and baby Hope Ndera are suspected to have been murdered by a 50-year-old man, who later reportedly died in a motor vehicle accident, which occurred some 18 kilometres out of Otjiwarongo on the Okahandja B1 road on Tuesday morning at around 00h40.

Mutsvairo and the deceased suspect were allegedly in a relationship; however, at the time of the accident, the suspect was allegedly travelling with his girlfriend, who reportedly survived and is recovering in a hospital at Otjiwarongo.
Mutsvairo and her baby’s next of kin have been informed of their deaths.
Police investigations in the matter continue. - Nampa
