FAW introduces limited edition to V2 hatchback
WINDHOEK – FAW Auto has added a limited edition to its very affordable base model V2 hatchback, which was launched at the Johannesburg International Motor Show in October 2013. The new model goes by the quirky model name of V2 # LIKE which has been derived by combining two of the most popular social media platforms: Twitter for hashtag # and Facebook’s LIKE function. The V2, which was introduced locally as the most affordable 1.3-litre car in the market at a retail price of N$99 995 has proved a popular model in the growing FAW passenger car range according to the general manager of FAW Auto cars and light commercials Pedro Pereira. The limited edition V2# LIKE continues as an amazing value-for-money offering because it has an exceptional list of additional standard equipment and yet sells at the extremely competitive price of N$109 995 including VAT and the list of features includes 15 inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth, i GO8 satellite navigation with touchscreen functionality, as well as a DVD/MP3/CD player for the audio system which also has upgraded 5-inch Sony speakers. The V2 # LIKE is available in a choice of white, silver, black and blue colours while the interior is trimmed in either black or grey. The well-proportioned and neatly-styled V2 hatch is at the upper end of the B-segment in terms of its size, with a spacious, four-seater interior and large luggage space – 320 litres – with the load versatility of solid bench fold-down rear seats. The comprehensive range of standard convenience features in all models includes air conditioning, power-operated windows on all four doors, a high end radio/CD audio system with MP3 compatibility, electrically-adjustable side mirrors which incorporate indicator repeaters, remote control central locking, remote fuel flap opener, four-way adjustable driver’s seat, dual glove box compartments, storage space and cup holder in door panels and an interior reading light. The V2 also has numerous safety features including driver and passenger air bags, anti-skid ABS brakes with electronic brake force distribution, side impact bars, a safety cell body shell, environmentally-friendly and fire-retardant interior trim, headlamp levelling adjustment, LED rear brake lights with a third high level mounted brake light on the spoiler, front and rear fog lamps. The 1.3-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine complies with Euro IV emission standards and develops 67kW of power at 6 000r/min and 120N.m of torque at 4 400r/min with fuel economy on the combined cycle of 6.5l/100km. It drives the front wheels through a five-speed gearbox. Suspension is independent on all four wheels for outstanding road holding and handling. The double wishbone independent rear suspension on the FAW V2 is unusual in the world of B-segment cars these days as most manufacturers go for the cheaper torsion beam system. The pre-launch FAW V2 underwent a six-month test programme in South Africa to ensure its suitability for local conditions and the people involved included a number of engineers from FAW in China.   The V2 # LIKE is not only well equipped and very affordable for a 1.3-litre car with such a comprehensive specification, but it also carries a 3-year/100 000km warranty and 3-year/ 45 000km service plan together with one-year roadside assistance and the peace of mind that FAW Auto is backed by the Imperial Group.
