FC Ongos Ladies’ great run continues

FC Ongos Ladies continued their great form in the FNB Women’s Super League last weekend, defeating Girls and Goals 6-1.

Speaking to this publication on Saturday, FC Ongos Ladies coach Shure Gure expressed satisfaction with his charges’ display on the field, saying they played according to plan. He added that there were also a few shortcomings from the side, but happily, they collected maximum points against Girls and Goals. “It was a good game; the girls came out, showed character, and collected a vital win. We had a plan for winning the match, and we decided to stick to it and continue with our great run. It’s the second leg, and every team isn’t looking to drop any points, and that’s what we are doing,” he said.

Going forward, he said, “We aim to defend the trophy, and we know what it takes to keep it, so there is so much work to be done. We will go back and regroup and work on our shortcomings and see how we can improve, but I am happy with the results, and that’s what matters now,” he added.

In other results on Saturday, Khomas Nampol collected maximum points after beating coastal outfit Arrows Ladies 2-1, while Ongwediva Queens reigned supreme by defeating Okahandja 2-1. Unam Bokkies, on the other hand, proved to be the stronger side as they sunk V-Power Angels 2-1 at home.

All FNB WSL matches have been postponed indefinitely as the country mourns the passing of President Hage Geingob. - mkambukwe@nepc.com.na
