TOP TRENDING: Kiriat Kamanya regrets untoward behaviour

The top trending clip on our radar is of local boxing promoter and owner of the MTC Salute Boxing Academy Kiriat Kamanya who was talking to the media and could be heard in somewhat of a gibberish tone and almost slurring speech with many alleging intoxication.

Kamanya could be heard saying ‘and I am being with me all over Russia and Manchester United in England we were there’ before the reporter conducting the interview diverted the attention to Lukas Ndafoluma, the winner of the TKO for the middleweight title, leaving Kamanya interjecting and murmuring in the background.

The promoter has since apologised to boxing fans and the MTC brand for his outward behaviour.
“I wish to take this opportunity to sincerely apologise to my sponsor MTC, our national leadership and the boxing fans for my behaviour last night. With boxing having been absent for almost a year now, I was just really frustrated organising this fight and the circumstances got the better of me but I should have known better,” stated Kamanya.

He added: “A real man recognizes when he is wrong and apologise and I, therefore, tender my unreserved apology on behalf of myself and the Salute Team. MTC is the most admired brand in the country and I will at all times strive to remain consistent with the values and attitude of the brand which we hold dearly.”

The main bout ended with a TKO that saw Ndafoluma extend his winning streak.
“You are a human being. Namibians! Let’s learn to build each other and just imaging how many families did you feed last night. Those boxers under Salute Boxing, my brother KK – much respect. Keep up good work,” posted Erastus Penaantu Amakali on Facebook.
Otty Davids commented: “Those are small things Tate, we have seen worse. We forgive you. Hopefully, MTC will not release an apology distancing themselves from you as they did with the Other Guy.” Another interesting comment was from Paurl Kavelah who asked what exactly Kamanya was apologising for.
“But what exactly qualified an apology there? For having some good fun in terms of linguistic or perhaps some good tots of the night? But cool.”
