Zambezi rural schools receive fence donations

IZIMWE – The Mubiza Combined School and Izimwe Primary School in the Bukalo circuit recently received fence donations from the Social Security Commission (SSC) and the Rock Wildlife Foundation and Sanctuary, respectively.

Izimwe PS received boundary fencing materials last Monday to the tune of N$256 500, which includes the construction costs of the fence. After the handover, a ground-breaking ceremony was held to pave the way for the erection of the fence.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rock Wildlife Foundation and Sanctuary representative Aaron Chimupanga pointed out that the donations mark the beginning of a collaboration with the education ministry that aims to enhance the learning environment at Izimwe.

“The fencing materials we present today are not just physical boundaries, they represent the unbreakable spirit of collaboration which safeguards our collective future,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mubiza CS received a donation of diamond mesh wire valued at about N$45 495 from the SSC two weeks ago.

In his remarks, Zambezi education director Josty Kawana stated that the donation will go a long way in addressing the challenge of movement control at the school.

“There are so many parastatals that we have in the region. To make matters worse, we are from the Covid-19 era, which disenabled most of our stakeholders and rendered them not able to assist, but social security took it upon themselves to assist. We are very grateful,” he added.

SSC Katima Mulilo Service Centre Manager Naomi Sheetekela said they recognised that the lack of a school fence was a major problem at the school. It is thus their hope that the donation will help make the school a safer place for learners and staff.

“The Social Security Commission is committed to supporting education in Namibia. We believe that education is the key to a better future for all Namibians. We are proud to partner with schools like the Mubiza Combined School to help ensure that all children have access to quality education,” she noted.
