A construction worker has been taken in for questioning by the Namibian Police for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl on the premises of a primary school in Windhoek’s Khomasdal on Tuesday this week. Confirming the incident, Khomas police commander Ismael Basson said the victim was allegedly sexually violated in the school toilet. The man (age unknown), who is the second suspect, is said to be part of the construction team that is currently carrying out work at the school.

The other suspect is still at large. “For now, although this one suspect is detained, we are not sure if he will be charged or released. As I said, investigations are currently underway,” explained Basson. Basson further added it would be difficult to identify the culprit as he was wearing a balaclava when the incident happened.
