The Namibia Schools Sport Union (NSSU) says this year’s Real Madrid Foundation Clinics will be held in four regions of the country.
In a statement released last week, NSSU said the foundation will host clinics in the Zambezi, Kavango West, Hardap and Omusati regions.
The clinics comprise sports and education programmes for developing young football players’ skills, allowing them to learn basic but essential values.
“Following the successful implementation of the Real Madrid Foundation clinics in 2023 and 2024, the programme will continue in 2025. With the generous assistance of Cadilu Fishing, the 2025 Real Madrid Foundation Football clinics will be in Katima Mulilo (Zambezi region) from 19-23 May 2025 and in Nkurenkuru (Kavango West region) from 26-30 May 2025,” the statement said.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture Dino Ballotti is expected to open the clinics in Katima Mulilo today.
The programme targets hundreds of school boys and girls as well as teachers in the regions.
“This year, the clinics will aim to impact more than 1 000 boys and girls as well as 150 teachers from Zambezi, Kavango West, Hardap and Omusati,” the statement said.
“The programme is being implemented through the NSSU, on one hand, and the ministry of education, on the other, facilitated by the embassy of Spain in Namibia, through the cooperation agreement between the Real Madrid Foundation and Cadilu Fishing (Pty) Ltd, a Namibian fishing company.”
The company is continuing its commitment to the programme as a financial partner for the third year running, as part of their corporate social investment policy, NSSU said.
