Namibia’s renowned Oviritje artist, Suko-White Kejarukua, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to her fans and friends for the overwhelming support and comfort she received following the passing of her mother.
The UK-based artist’s mother, Ngumeritiza Tjitambi Hilde Kejarukua, passed away on 6 April 2025 in Windhoek after a period of illness. She was laid to rest on 19 April at Okahitanda in the Otjozondjupa region.
Suko-White said the love and condolences from her supporters have been a great source of strength during this difficult time.
“I appreciate that very much, I hope God will keep you all safe and continue to bless you. My love for you will never die,” Kejarukua said.
She added that the two words ‘Thank you’ don’t impart all the warm emotions she felt, and she recalled the myriad of things her family and friends did for her during the time of distress.
Kejarukua said her mother raised her with love, strength, and patience, adding that every memory of growing up is tied to her.
“Her laughter, her hands were always doing something for someone. Her words of wisdom and voice are what I will always miss the most. I will also miss the way she made everything feel okay just by being there,” said the artist.
She added that her mother always had a way of making people feel seen, cared for, and loved. The artist further said losing a mother feels like losing the core of who she is.
“But even in her absence, I feel her everywhere. Right now, I am grieving but grateful for her life, love, and the legacy she left behind, and I will carry her with me forever,” she said.
Oviritje guru Abel Kandjii, speaking on behalf of the Oviritje music industry, said ‘Suko-White’ contributed a lot to the music industry both locally and at the international level.
Kandjii highlighted that Kejarukua is one of the artists who is always willing to assist and collaborate with others in the industry. “She is a good listener and takes advice without being judgmental. She established a strong fan base and it was good to see them comforting her during this difficult period,” he said.
VIBEZ! also spoke to some ‘Suko-White’ fans who expressed support for their favourite artist during the dark period. Among them is Blommy Kapuire, who said it’s not an easy to lose a mother, and her thoughts are with the Kejarukua family. “May the Almighty give her strength so that she can continue producing more music. I started liking her music during her time with Ongoro-Nomundu Concert Group,” she said.
Kapuire added that Kejarukua’s music is unique and sends strong inspirational messages.
Another fan, Nxao Willem, said he will pray for Suko-White to bounce back from the dark period and continue her music, considering her self-confidence level.
“She must pray a lot and move on with life. It is not easy to lose parents, but God is not judgeable,” Willem said.
