The police in the Khomas region are looking for three suspects who held a taxi driver at gunpoint and robbed him of the vehicle and other valuables on Friday at Hakahana. The 33-year-old taxi driver was robbed of his Nissan Note valued at N$37 000 and a cellphone (iPhone 6) worth N$3 600.
The report indicated that the incident took place at about 22h00, when the victim allegedly picked up a suspect who pretended to be a customer and indicated that the taxi fare would be paid at home, in Hakahana. “Upon arriving at the destination, two men and a woman approached the victim (driver’s side) before the suspect cocked his firearm and ordered the victim not to move while the other three suspects entered the vehicle.
The suspect took control of the vehicle and drove a few metres from the weighbridge (north of Windhoek) where they pushed him out of the taxi and went back to Windhoek, leaving the victim stranded. He walked to Monte Christo Street, where he took a taxi to Wanaheda police station and reported the matter. No arrests were made but the taxi was found abandoned,” said police spokesperson Elifas

In Omusati region, a man of unknown age died after he was allegedly shot by a 23-year-old security guard while trying to forcefully enter a mini-market.
This happened on Friday at about 01h30 in Omulamba location at Onanyalala village in the Otamanzi constituency.
“The suspect, who was guarding the mini-market, was sleeping in his room when unknown people forcefully tried to open the door with unknown objects, before he fired one shot with a shotgun which struck the deceased in the ribs before succumbing, while others fled the scene,” said the police.
No arrest was made and police investigations continue.
Meanwhile, a 29-year-old woman, Joyce Angula allegedly committed suicide in her bedroom at Oshakati in the Oshana region on Saturday.
The police said no suicide note was left and her next of kin have been informed. In a similar incident, 35-year-old Vincent Ndeushakeneka from Onamunama village of the Ohangwena region committed suicide on Thursday.
No suicide note was found and his next of kin were also informed. At Rundu’s Donkerhoek on Thursday at about 20h00, a 21-year-old suspect held a 32-year-old woman at knifepoint and robbed her of her iPhone 11 Pro valued above N$10 000. The phone was recovered and the suspect arrested.
In the same town between Thursday and Friday, at an unknown time at the Kaisosi location, it is alleged suspects gained entrance by breaking the burglar bars and front door of a house open, stealing a Hisense 58 smart TV, and a Panasonic speaker to the value of N$20 249.98. No recoveries were made.
On Wednesday at Rundu’s Tutungeni, a case of housebreaking with intent to steal and theft was registered when the suspect broke the window, gained entrance and took an Acer laptop and a laptop bag to the value of N$8 750. No recoveries were made.
On Thursday at about 02h00 at Ndama, in Rundu, it is alleged a suspect broke the main door of the Pep Store, gained entrance and stole various items to the value of N$2 650. No recoveries were made either. –ljason@nepc.com.na
