Evans Simataa, chairperson of the board of directors of Windhoek Country Club Resort (WCCR), last week handed over dividends amounting to N$25 million to Tjiuee Kaura, director of governance and financial advice in the Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises.
Simataa, with deep appreciation to his fellow board members and all staff at WCCR, expressed his immense delight with the reshaping of the Country Club’s financial narrative.
He added that the past year had been punctuated by several significant achievements that strengthened WCCR’s position in the market.
“We achieved a clean audit from our external auditors, successfully expanded our market share in both the hospitality and gaming sectors, and our occupancy rates have rebounded.
Furthermore, we have made significant strides in investing in our digital infrastructure, resulting in enhanced operational efficiency and superior guest experience,” Simataa said.
He expanded on the strong financials, highlighting that total cash reserves stood at N$132 million as of 30 April 2025.
“Looking ahead, we anticipate continued positive momentum, with revenue growth from operations projected to increase by 6% to N$218 million in 2025, and to N$231 million in 2026, maintaining a steady growth rate of 5% thereafter. We anticipate our total expenditure to remain generally stable at 7%, with a further two-digit reduction noted, ultimately settling at a sustainable 5% increase in subsequent years”.
Further financial highlights include the fact that operating expenses as a percentage of revenue at WCCR were well within sustainable levels – at 79% in 2025, with a target of maintaining a healthy 74% for the following financial periods.
WCCR is projected to generate profit year on year in the foreseeable future, with a sound balance-sheet underpinned by a low level of debt.
Simataa shared that WCCR has been able to actively support numerous charity organisations, with a total expenditure of N$1.3 million in the current year and a budgeted N$1.4 million for the upcoming financial year of 2026.
Regarding the future, he was confident that the WCCR would remain at the forefront of Namibian hospitality.
“We are particularly thrilled about upcoming developments, including our state-of-the-art swimming pool complex and the 30th anniversary celebrations of WCCR on 21 May 2025,” he stated.
Kaura acknowledged the outstanding efforts of the resort’s board, management team and every employee of WCCR.
He said commercial public enterprises should generate profit.
“Most of our public enterprises are non-compliant. They need a bailout by government. I am thankful that WCCR is fully compliant. I encourage you, the board and the team, to continue with your achievements. In order to build and develop this country, we need to be productive, remain busy and focus on the right things,” Kaura stated.
