Enduro Series heads to Farm Lichtenstein

Home Sports Enduro Series heads to Farm Lichtenstein

Windhoek

Enduro riders are set to face one of the toughest races of the national championship as they head to Farm Lichtenstein this Saturday for the second round of the Bank Windhoek Namibia National Enduro Series.

The event is co-sponsored by Absolute Logistics, Bon Okapuka Crushers & Windhoek Brick Works and Olympia Pharmacy.

The championship got off to a surprising start at Farm Omakwara in February when the Henle Brothers scooped first places in the motorbike class up to 200cc (Class 1) and in the class over 200cc (Class 2).

Last year’s undisputed Class 2 national champion, Henner Rusch, who completed 2015 winning every race, will be highly motivated to fight back on his home turf. Equally, 2015 Class 1 champion, Ingo Waldschmidt, will be on the track to try and catch up with championship leader Marcel Henle.

Unlike the first event at Omakwara, this weekend’s event on Farm Lichtenstein has one of the most technical race courses.

The riders will be greeted with single tracks, stony and challenging mountain passes as well as river sections, which will challenge the concentration, fitness and skills of the bikers unlike any other race.

In particular the senior motorbike riders (Class 5), led by last year’s champion and winner of Omakwara, Sven Schneidenberger, will have to show endurance on the track that includes elements of hard enduro.

The Namibian Enduro Club expects around 70 quad and motorbikes to enter in 11 competition classes.
Junior riders from 10 years of age will be on the track, as well as a large number of non-national championship riders.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the event as this race is sure to be an interesting one with a technical river section, 500m walking distance from the pits. Sanitation facilities will be available.

For entries and all other related information, the Namibian Enduro Club has posted information on its website www.namibianenduro.com. Saturday’s race will start at 07h00 with documentation and technical control, with the first bike off the line at 9h00.
